leading up to ... trick-or-treat

Last Friday we went to the ward trunk-or-treat. It was a lot of fun Eli figured it out pretty quickly. Uncle Michael was there so he shared his gluten food with Eli. Since Mitchell can’t have gluten and I am going gluten free for kayden (it helps reduce his gas) I was glad Michael was willing to share so I didn’t have to smell the yummy soup. They did a great job with the ward party, the young woman’s had done an awesome haunted house.
After the trunk-or-treat we went to the last football game. We love watching the halftime show too, where we get to see Uncle josephs marching band preform. A note on that, the marching band won the competition in California and got three trophy’s available at the big D3 tournament in the treasure valley.   I forgot to take pictures there, but I got a picture on the way back. It was a great time, we left in the 4th quarter because it was getting cold and out team was going downhill.  Eli has loved going to all the home games this year and we can’t wait for basketball season!
On Saturday Mitchell had a class from discovery through ISU so we were alone all day. Eli spent most of the day wearing Mitchells costume safari hat! He loves it still it was definitely a good purchase now it will be a part of the “dress up” box.
On Sunday Mitchell was set apart for his new calling of Second counselor in the Elders Quarm. After dinner at my parents (thank you) I went home and made apple pie! The next day I was able to go to my parent house again an make apple pie filling with them! They have been so great all year giving us their fruit and jars and letting me help them can. We have done fruit cocktail ,stewed tomatoes,  grape juice, and apple pie filling.
monday we carved pumpkins for FHE.
Wednesday was Halloween! While daddy was at work we made donuts  and we danced to the monster mash and other Halloween music. We read where the wild things are and finger painted a mask. I also taught him the flying purple people eater song but he didn’t do it so well when the camera was out.
Poor Mitchell has been sick all week but he made sure to have a great time with us. We sure love him!
We had a yummy dinner and then went out trick-or-treating in my parents subdivision. Eli loved it! He would walk right up to the front door to get his candy. He also was very good about brushing his teeth and putting his candy on the shelf when we got home. Mitchell and I had a lot of fun going around with both our little ones. After Eli was asleep we watched the first half hour of Arsenic and old lace, which neither of us have seen, and had cider and donuts. It was a great day!
