Sunday - Tacoma/ Buckley and the trip home- Day 4
That morning we got up and left early. We packed our stuff
up and left so early in order to spend some quality time in Mitchells home
areas of WA.
Not 15 min into the drive towards Seattle and kayden got
sick poor baby- I had forgotten to give him Dramamine! So he spent the whole
car ride with a towel under him. Fortunately we had a change of clean clothes
for him to put on.
First we headed to
Tacoma, a walk on Rushton Way. We saw the big boats and jelly fish. After that
we went all around town and saw a lot of beautiful and familiar sights. We took
our time. We went to some parks with the kids and on a nature walk. Then we
went to a seafood restaurant-kid friendly- right on the sound with a great view!
After lunch we had ice cream- oh so good- on the pier. The kids saw several
trains, the outdoor seating area on the water is right by train tracks- like
the parking lot is on the other side of the tracks- crazy close and the kids
will probably never forget how big and fast and loud trains are up close!.
After the food we decided to take a little tour of the area
Mitch used to live on our way to the freeway.
Then we headed up to Buckley and Enumclaw to see Mitchell’s family’s
old farmhouse and his Grandparents Grave. NO flowers- but we did bring a
perfect sand dollar to place on the grave and mitch picked a few little flowers
he found.
After all that goodness we set out towards Yakama by way of
the great Mt Reiner National forest…. So.Stinkin.Beautiful.
Not much to say because it was just beautiful. We loved the
drive through and committed to come back some day.
After that we just drive until we got to Jessica & Todd’s
place. They kindly feed us dinner. Our kids fell in love with the playroom Todd’s
mom has set up- it is sweet! We were so glad we could stop and visit them!
Thank you Jessica and Todd we love you guys!! P.S. their family has the
sweetest dog!
After that stop I drove- knowing the Mitch worked the next
day. The drive was more eventful then you might think. There was a crazy
lightning storm coming over the Mts. I won’t lie to you I wanted to take out my
camera and take pictures like a mad woman- but you know I was driving in the
dark on the freeway in the Mts in a storm so I didn’t take pictures but let me
tell you it was AWESOME!!
We made several stops … kids and not feeling good etc. But
in the end we made it home around 2:45 AM and everyone went to bed as they were.
I waited to clean out the car and get everyone bathed until the next day.
We gave the trip an A+ and have already made a list for the
things we want to do next time we are up in WA- Gig Harbor, Mt Reiner and the
art museum … and a few other goodies I think the ocean is another must!
