We threw my dad a party last weekend. He turned 50. So our
theme was “going over the HILL” we felt very PUNNY because it was hosted by the
HILL’S . we had fun with it. Not as many people came as we had originally hoped
due to a church thing that changed to the same time. My dad had a great time
though and since he was the guest of honor that made it a success!
We reserved a park area, and decorated a bit. We brought his old elementary school
scrapbook and I made him a shutterfly type book of his life thus far. It was a
lot of fun to read his old school compositions and see his artwork. He really
liked the book we made him I was smart
enough to include a few pictures of some of the biggest fish he has caught. Good move!
Some of his family got him gifts too including my aunt Darla who gave him just
about the funniest card I have ever seen, it said something to this effect “ I’m not going to tell you your old (open) I will
let someone else say it I will just be
standing off to the side nodding my head” it was HILarious! He got to visit with everyone about an upcoming backpacking trip. I am so bummed that i cant go but it was great that everyone wanting to go backpacking came so they could have some "fish stories" and talk. It was so great to
have everyone visit together for a party. My cousin Cami was just fresh off a
work trip to Alaska, I believe she was cleaning fish there, she says she doesn’t
know if she will ever eat Salmon again. I can’t say I blame her! My grandpa and
Linda Durrant surprised us by coming from twin falls too! My grandpa gave my
dad a cane for his birthday, hand crafted of course. The veggie try tipped over in the car on the
way and my son put a hand print on the cake. Overall it was wonderful. Eli and
kayden both got hot and tired before it was over so they went home early
without me so I could take down and clean up afterwards. We had lots of yummy homemade
food and a delicious Costco cake and homemade ice cream! That ice cream was so
good let me tell you homemade is the way to go!
I always read my friends blog and they write all about their
lives with vivacity and detail and I always say to myself “ I am going to do
that, then I can look back and remember!” and then I just end up writing a line or two and putting up a few pictures.
It funny really because I talk so much in person, but I have decided that I belong
to that school of people that like to think that a picture is worth 1000 words
( in my simple life more like 70words) that being said here are a whole lot of
pictures!
